Following the ongoing extensive renovation and comprehensive facelift of the Bangkok Mandarin Oriental Hotel, we have in early March 2019 closed down our outlet located inside the Authors’ Lounge of this acclaimed Hotel.
As a result, we have again expanded within the O.P. Place Shopping Plaza, and next to our gallery located on the ground floor we have recently opened an additional exhibition space.
From now on, you can immerse yourself in our 2,500 square feet of total gallery space.
O.P. Place Shopping Plaza in 2019
Since the foundation of our gallery back in 2005, we love the O.P. Place Shopping Plaza.
This luxury mall from the colonial era stands out amongst the ramshackle shops and houses that border the lanes around it. The building is a quite beautiful ancient shopping center for those who like style and ambiance from that time. It possesses unique architectural elements that are emblems of that era.
O.P. Place Shopping Plaza in 1908
Erected in 1908 during the reign of King Rama V, and once a center for trade and already a magnet for foreign visitors in the early 20th century, it has over the years experienced a number of incarnations, including that of the Oriental Plaza, and later the Oriental Place.
O.P. Place Shopping Plaza Lobby
The lobby oozes charm from the sweeping double wrought-iron staircases to the vintage lift. The teakwood panels, the marble floors, the huge stained glass windows, the polished brass and the impressive chandelier add to the sense of grandeur and take you back in time.
O.P. Place Shopping Plaza is definitely well worth a visit.
